Printa 990 Pad & Screen Printing System
The gold system
The Printa 990 Series manually operated cylindrical screen printer is a marvel of engineering concept and design. Available in a range of configurations, this modular machine is the machine of choice in this market place, and is designed to offer tremendous printing flexibility and versatility.
The 990 is compact and can be located on a small worktable, and can be used by almost anyone!
Included with the Gold package is the single colour pad printer, rotary screen printing upgrade (conversion parts only, not a second machine body), consumable supply packs for both pad and screen printing and modular exposure unit. A fully comprehensive technical training manual and video CD are also supplied to ensure a quick and simple startup.
The 990 single colour pad printing system can also be upgraded to two colour operation at any time.
The 990 cylindrical screen printing system is intended as a single colour printer only and no upgrade is available for this product.
What is included?
Everything that is needed to begin printing after delivery of the system is included with each package - all you need to provide are the items that need printing and some time to learn how to use the machine. A true turn-key solution for any business with after sales support that is second to none!
Modular design with an upgrade path
The Printa 990 machine body has been designed with flexibility and upgradeability as core features. As a result, it is possible to use the same machine for both screen printing and pad printing simply by removing certain parts and installing some additional components.
This upgrade path can be used at any time - either when the machine is first purchased or at a later date during ownership. The conversion from a single colour pad printer to a cylindrical screen printing system takes less than 10 minutes.
Flat screen printing option
To further enhance the screen printing upgrade that forms part of the Gold system, we offer an optional (extra cost) flat screen printing attachment that can be quickly and easily fitted to the machine.
This attachment allows flat products to be printed that might otherwise be too large for the pad printer to handle. The fixture uses 4 discs all of which can be screwed in place at various intervals along the bed of the attachment. This clever design allows products of varying sizes and shapes to be securely held in place during printing.
How does cylindrical screen printing work?
The process begins with the conversion of the Printa 990 pad printing system to a cylindrical screen printer. Some of the parts that are removed from the pad printer are used during the conversion but other screen print specific items are added at this time.
Once the machine has been changed over to screen printing, a screen needs to be made. The screen printing consumables supply pack includes a supply of indirect stencil material called capillary film. This product is used to coat the screen making it light sensitive. Once the screen has been coated and dried, the screen can be exposed to UV light and a design placed on the screen. After the screen has been washed with water, it can then be used for printing.
The screen is located on the printer and after two small changes have been made to the inking system from the pad printer, this part becomes the squeegee holder which pushes the ink through the screen and onto the product.
The cylindrical product is held in a mandrel which pushes the item against the screen. As the bed of the printer is moved from left to right, the screen rotates the product by converting the upwards force against the screen into a rotational movement. As the product moves, so too does the screen, hence the design can be applied to the outside circumference of the product in one smooth operation.
