Printa 990 Pad Printing System
The silver system
The Printa 990 Series manually operated pad printer is a marvel of engineering concept and design. Available in a range of different configurations, this modular machine is the machine of choice in this market place, and is designed to offer tremendous printing flexibility and versatility.
The 990 series has many outstanding features, such as a patented automatic inking system, which is almost unheard of on many competitor machines. The print area is amongst the largest in its class, and the micro adjustable product turntable ensures precise location and print registration. The 990 is compact and can be located on a small worktable, and can be used by almost anyone!
The 990 single colour pad printing systems can also be upgraded to two colour operation at any time during ownership.
In addition to being supplied as a single or two colour pad printer, the 990 series can also be upgraded to single colour flat and cylindrical screen printing using the same machine body. This upgrade can be purchased at any time.
It is also possible to purchase a second machine body which can be used purely for screen printing applications.
What is included?
Included with the Silver package is the single colour pad printer, consumable supply pack and exposure unit. A comprehensive technical training manual and video CD presentation are also supplied to ensure a quick and simple startup.
Modular design
The Printa 990 machine body has been designed with flexibility and upgradeability as core features. As a result, it is possible to use the same machine for both pad and screen printing simply by removing certain parts and installing some additional components.
This upgrade path can be used at any time - either when the machine is first purchased or at a later date during ownership. The conversion from a single colour pad printer to a cylindrical screen printing system takes less than 10 minutes.
Two colour option
To further enhance the flexibility of the Printa 990 system, a two colour pad printing upgrade is also available for purchase at any time during ownership.
This upgrade replaces the single colour ink tray and ink roller with a twin plate and roller system. In addition, the transfer pad mount is also changed to allow the fitment of two transfer pads. In addition, the single printing plate is changed for two smaller plates which should be exposed in registration to each other in order to help with the setup of the printer when printing two colours.
Finally, a small moveable fixture holder which we refer to as a shuttle is fastened to the existing product table and allows the item that is being printed to be moved from the first print colour / transfer position to the second print position in registration.
It is of course still possible to use the X, Y & Z adjustment of the product table when the shuttle is being used.
Automatic inking system
The Printa 990 manually operated single colour pad printer has a patented automatic inking system.
Few competitor products come close to the Printa 990 when it comes to inking and cleaning the printing plate during printing.
The inking system can be used in manual operation or in automatic mode where the movement of the lower bed from left to right actuates a mechanism that controls when the printer inks the plate and then cleans the plate prior to image pickup by the transfer pad.
In addition, the Teflon coated ink tray can also be fitted with a disposable plastic tray liner that reduces cleanup time after printing. Whilst this item is great idea, the system can still be used without the tray liner if preferred.
To help with efficient cleaning of the plate during printing, the angle of the doctor blade relative to the plate can be very easily adjusted.
Micro-adjustable product turntable
Locating and registering a product easily and quickly on a manually operated pad printing system is vital if the machine is to be efficient and productive.
The Printa 990 pad printing system has a clever 3 axis adjustable product table to which products can be easily located. The table has 4 drilled and tapped screw holes to which tooling can be fastened.
In addition, the table has also be machined with lots of small holes that allow the use of a special fixture putty which can be "pressed" into the holes to hold the putty and product in position during printing.
The standard specifications of the Printa 990 pad printer are as follows:
